Doxycycline
Dose
100 mg PO BD (200 mg loading in severe infection). Scrub typhus/rickettsia: 100 mg BD × 7 days.
Use
Atypical pneumonia, rickettsial and spirochaetal infection, acne, malaria prophylaxis.
Monitoring
Photosensitivity advice, take upright with water, avoid within 2 h of calcium/iron.

Pregnancy safety
Avoid after 15 weeks — dental and skeletal effects.
