400 mcg PO OD after the same meal each day
Mechanism
Relaxes prostate / bladder neck smooth muscle
Indications
- • BPH lower urinary tract symptoms
- • Medical expulsive therapy for distal ureteric stones
Use
Combine with 5α-reductase inhibitor for prostate ≥30 mL.
Monitoring
BP (postural), urinary flow, IOP if cataract surgery planned.
Side effects
- • Postural hypotension, dizziness
- • Retrograde ejaculation
- • Intraoperative floppy iris syndrome
