Poractant Alfa (Surfactant)
Dose
100–200 mg/kg intratracheally; repeat 100 mg/kg q12h if ongoing oxygen requirement (max 3 doses).
Use
Neonatal respiratory distress syndrome — INSURE or LISA technique.
Monitoring
SpO₂, ventilator pressures (rapid compliance change), CXR, pneumothorax.
Side effects
- • Transient bradycardia/desaturation during instillation
- • Pulmonary haemorrhage
- • ET tube blockage
