Rifampicin
Dose
10 mg/kg PO OD (max 600 mg) fasting. Meningococcal prophylaxis: 600 mg BD × 2 days.
Use
TB therapy, prosthetic-material staphylococcal infection, meningococcal prophylaxis.
Monitoring
LFTs, warn about orange secretions, major CYP inducer — check contraception and warfarin.
Side effects

- • Flu-like syndrome
- • Thrombocytopenia
