Misoprostol
Dose
PPH: 800 mcg sublingual or PR. Medical management of miscarriage: per local protocol.
Use
Second-line uterotonic where oxytocin unavailable or refractory atony.
Monitoring
Temperature (pyrexia common), bleeding, uterine tone.
Side effects
- • Fever, shivering
- • Diarrhoea
- • Nausea
