Denosumab
Dose
60 mg SC every 6 months (osteoporosis); 120 mg SC monthly in skeletal metastases.
Use
Osteoporosis when bisphosphonates unsuitable — including CKD.
Monitoring
Calcium before each dose, dental health; never stop abruptly (rebound vertebral fractures).
Side effects
- • Hypocalcaemia
- • Cellulitis
- • Osteonecrosis of jaw
- • Rebound fracture on discontinuation
