Colchicine (cardiology)
Dose
Pericarditis: 0.5 mg BD (0.5 mg OD if <70 kg) × 3 months. CV prevention: 0.5 mg OD.
Indications
- • Acute pericarditis (with NSAID)
- • Recurrent pericarditis
- • Post-MI/PCI 2° prevention (LoDoCo2, COLCOT — 0.5 mg OD)
- • Gout
Contraindications
- • Severe renal/hepatic impairment
- • Blood dyscrasia
- • P-gp or strong CYP3A4 inhibitors
Dose adjustment
CrCl <30: avoid or ↓dose 50%
Use
Prevents recurrent pericarditis; emerging CV prevention data.
Monitoring
GI symptoms, CBC, CK, renal function.
