Carboprost
Dose
250 mcg IM every 15 min (max 8 doses / 2 mg) for refractory atonic PPH.
Contraindications
- • Active cardiac, pulmonary, renal or hepatic disease
- • Asthma (relative)
Use
Third-line uterotonic in atonic postpartum haemorrhage.
Monitoring
SpO₂ and respiratory status, BP, bleeding.
Side effects
- • Bronchospasm (avoid in asthma)
- • Diarrhoea, vomiting
- • Fever
- • Hypertension
